Numero Uno Celebrates 10 years!

Celebrating 10 Years in Business
Congratulations Numero Uno!

Congratulations to one of our valued Sponsors - Sam and John at Numero Uno Pizza and Pasta. Last week they celebrated 10 years since taking over the iconic Altona Pizza shop and becoming part of the Altona community.
Sam, John, and their son Ryan run the local business that is a favourite with many locals.
Numero Uno have supported many local clubs over the years and in recent years have become a strong supporter of the Altona Junior Football Club, embracing it as their football club.
When we asked why Numero Uno sponsor our club? John replied, “He loves to see the look on the kid’s faces when they come in with their awards”. He knows the weekly team award they contribute makes a player’s day. The Coaches use the award to encourage and reward young players for doing their best.
Numero Uno is open 7 days a week. On Monday to Friday from 10am to late, and for breakfast from 8:30am on the weekends. If you aren’t already a regular, drop in and try them out. You won’t be disappointed.

It’s through the generous support of people like Sam and John that our club remains strong and we can ensure that our young people continue to have a great football club to be proud of.

Congratulations Numero Uno
from the AJFC!

AFL Coach launches the 2017 Coach Support Program

Gavin Brown, North Melbourne FC Senior Development Coach, helped launch the 2017 Dynamic Footy Skills Coach Support Program on Saturday 19th November. Gavin delivered a Professional Development Skills session, putting DFS and local Coaches through their paces.

Altona Juniors Coach Coordinator, Jason Walsh, was one of a handful of Club Coaches selected to participate in the skills session with other DFS coaches. “The 2017 DFS Coach Support Program this year is called AFL2U. It will deliver the latest elite level techniques, drills and skills to assist Coaches. The Altona Junior Football Club will benefit from being exposed to these types of workshops. They assist our Club Coaches to keep up with current trends, techniques and help provide sound knowledge with the latest skills, training drills, and game day strategies. We will also modify our Clubs training programs to incorporate this information” said Jason.

2017 Under 11's Coach appointed

The AJFC are happy to announce...
Brett Robinson Appointed Under 11 Coach for 2017
Brett Robinson – Under 11's Coach for 2017

After two fantastic seasons as the Under 10 Coach, Brett was again chosen to coach the Under 11’s for the 2017 season.  It’s always an exciting season for this age group as they transfer through to their first year of competition football which now consists of game points and a position on a ladder.  Always positive and approachable, Brett is able to engage, communicate and teach in an environment that is challenging for most of us. Brett is a Level 1 Accredited Coach and plans to ensure skill development remains the core focus, and is looking forward to introducing his team to competition football. We wish his all the best for the another great season with The Vikings!

A Notice from the President

A reminder to our Altona Junior Football Club community that on Friday 2nd December between 6pm and 8pm there is an opportunity to Meet the coaches and Register for the upcoming 2017 season. If you can’t make it, you are able to register online. All existing players should have received an email regarding this. If you haven’t you can visit the WRFL website and register through there.
New and transferring players can also register through the WRFL website, or email ajfcrego@gmail.com for information.
Sportsafe Mouth Guard fittings will take place on Registration Night, and we will look to have a second fitting night in the New Year for those that can’t make it.
We have opened registrations earlier than normal since some teams are starting their pre-season training in the coming weeks. The club takes out an insurance policy that covers all our players and volunteers, therefore, it is recommended that players are registered with our club as soon as possible to be covered under the policy.
Opening registrations early will also help us determine the number of players and confirm team nominations to the WRFL.
I understand that with Christmas looming, some families may not be able to pay the $190 AJFC fee at the moment. This is fine, I urge you to register the player and pay the $10 WRFL fee. The club fees can be paid in the New Year and will not become overdue until Round 1.
With the generous support of “Numero Uno Pizza and Pasta” there is a terrific AJFC sports bag as a registration gift. This gift will be made available to each player once the full fees are paid.
